A student of the Faculty of Environmental and Energy Engineering, Karolina Ceglarz, received the main prize in the first edition of the Stena Circular Economy Award – Leader of Closed Circuit Economy.

Karolina Ceglarz received an award in the student category for the “Compostomat” project. The scientific supervisor of the project was Wojciech Hryb, PhD, an employee of the Department of Waste Management Technology and Facilities at the Faculty of Environmental and Energy Engineering.

The project conducted by the student is a concept of a device allowing to make the collection of bio-waste from high development more attractive and to increase the efficiency. “Compostomat” is an energetically self-sufficient and easy-to-use device located near waste containers. Thanks to this, residents will be able to pass kitchen waste in special chipped containers, and in return will receive points that can be exchanged for a home composter, compost, a waste disposal allowance, gadgets to reduce the amount of waste produced, or rebates to cooperating companies.
