Silesian University of Technology received almost PLN 29 million for the implementation of an educational project within the 1st path of the Integrated University Programmes initiative, organized by the National Centre for Research and Development. Our University received second highest funding among all Polish technical universities. The results of the contest were announced on March 14th.
The main goal of the initiative is the development of higher education, so that it could fully meet current social and economic needs of our country. The initiative is divided into three paths.
Within the first path, universities will receive funds primarily intended for new education programmes, training for didactic staff and improving students’ competences through the implementation of training, high quality internship programmes and additional courses, including in foreign languages, as well as for doctoral studies.
This year, the National Centre for Research and Development allocated almost PLN 700 million for the first path of the Integrated University Programmes. About one hundred universities in Poland received money for educational projects. Our University received almost PLN 29 million of funding for the project titles “Silesian University of Technology as a Centre for Modern Education based on research and innovation”.
The aim of the awarded project is to carry out, in the next two years, profound change in education and operation of our university, so that the Silesian University of Technology could act as a Centre for Modern Education based on research and innovation.
A modern School of Doctorates will also be developed at the Silesian University of Technology, which will offer an interdisciplinary model of education in 11 scientific disciplines. Further courses in English will be launched, in order to facilitate the internationalization of the University. At present, the Silesian University of Technology offers 16 programmes of study in English.
