Silesian University of Technology on the podium in EngiRank "by subject"

The Silesian University of Technology obtained high marks in two areas of the latest European Ranking of Engineering Programs - EngiRank "by subject", prepared by the Education Foundation Perspektywy. In the international comparisons of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering specialties, we took the first and second place, respectively.

The Silesian University of Technology was classified on the podium in two different areas.

In the Civil Engineering competition, the University won against 46 similar fields of study available in 18 universities in Poland, 4 in Croatia, 3 in Cyprus, 7 in the Czech Republic, 1 in Estonia, 3 in Hungary, 1 in Latvia, 2 in Lithuania, 3 in Romania, 3 in Slovakia and 2 in Slovenia. The Civil Engineering is conducted in English at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology.

In the case of Mechanical Engineering - the Silesian University of Technology took the second place, and fell only behind the University of Pannonia in Hungary.

The ranking "by subject" took into account two criteria - scientific effectiveness (publications, citations, including these in the SCOPUS database) and the quality of education (accreditations, including ABET, ENAEE, the Royal Institute of British RIBA, EUA-IEP ). All "by subject" classifications were prepared on the basis of 7 main disciplines included in the "Engineering & Technology" area.

Moreover, the Silesian University of Technology was among the top ten Polish and top fifteen European universities in the field of engineering education. The ranking was developed on the basis of 15 indicators collected under 5 criteria: scientific effectiveness (20%), innovation (35%), quality of education (20%), prestige (5%), and internationalization (20%). The organisers compared 81 universities from 13 countries, the so-called New Europe, that is, those that joined the European Union in 2004 and later.

The initiator of the European Ranking of Engineering Studies is the Education Foundation Perspektywy. The main partner of the project is the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE).
