The Silesian University of Technology supports the Belarusians

Due to the current, complicated situation in Belarus, the Silesian University of Technology, in solidarity and support for the educational ambitions of Belarusian youth, launched a special programme addressed to 50 young Belarusian citizens – who are currently studying and to those who would like to study in the fields of study available in the educational offer of the Silesian University of Technology in Polish and English.

 

As part of the programme, the Silesian University of Technology will provide students with convenient recruitment conditions, adjusted to the situation, as well as will cover the costs of studies in the current academic year. Students from Belarus will also receive social support, scholarships for persons with disabilities, free accommodation in a student dormitory, flexible and attractive study conditions, assistance from the academic staff, Polish and foreign students. The University will also provide information and psychological support, assistance in individual development, job seeking and free of charge Polish language classes.

 

Exemption from tuition fees – application procedure

 

The criteria to be met by a student applying for an exemption from tuition fees for educational services vary according to the year of study.

 

First year students who want to join the group of beneficiaries of the programme "Silesian University of Technology supports the Belarusians" need to be full-time students who declare Polish or English language proficiency at the level of at least B2. Moreover, they cannot benefit from any other exemptions, specified in separate regulations. In such a case, the application for the exemption should be submitted to the Admission Office, which is a part of the Studies Service Centre. The deadline for submission is 30 October.

 

Students of second and further years of studies need to have an average grade for the previous academic year higher or equal to 4.3, a valid visa, residence card or other document authorizing them to stay in Poland and to continue their studies. The application should be submitted to the Student Service Office by 10 October 2020.

 

Detailed information regarding regulations for exemption from tuition fee for Belarusian citizens within the programme "Silesian University of Technology supports the Belarusians" was published in the Ordinance No 207/2020 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 30 September 2020.
