Announcements regarding changes in the organisation of the 2019/2020 academic year and procedures for student accommodation in a dormitory.

Pursuant to the Ordinance No 86/2020 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 7 May 2020, changes are made to the Ordinance according to the organisation of the academic year 2019/2020 at the Silesian University of Technology. In addition, from 4 May 2020, the rules regarding student accommodation in student dormitories have been changed (Ordinance No 88/2020 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology).

The changes introduced by the Ordinance No 86/2020 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology concern, among others, admission during the period from 22 June to 30 September 2020 of conducting classes with direct participation of academic teachers or other persons who teach and students, as well as conducting credits and examinations, after prior appointment with the representative of the student group. In the same period (i.e. from 22 June to 30 September), days for which the implementation of classes, credits or exams has not been agreed, are allocated to summer holidays together with professional internships.

Records regarding the dates of the summer retake examination session and inter-semester break, as well as "Sports Day" and "Rector's Day" are deleted. The date of the "Igry" event is moved to May 29, 2020.

Pursuant to the Ordinance No 88/2020 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, changes were introduced in terms of ​​student accommodation in dormitories. The right to accommodation is granted to persons, who meet at least one of the conditions:

- involvement in the implementation of PBL projects, therefore the presence at the University is necessary,

- implementation of the diploma thesis or engineering project,

- involvement in the implementation of project works as part of student scientific organisations,

- involvement in carrying out works related to the research project,

- acting as an IT network manager in a dormitory.

Applicants for accommodation in a student dormitory should obtain the recommendation of the Student Self-Government of the Silesian University of Technology. Before arriving at the dormitory, the student should contact the head of the student house to arrange the date of arrival. The facility manager prepares a student arrival schedule.

While checking in, the student makes a statement, that during the last 14 days he has not had a contact with people coming from abroad or those who have been diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, and that they were not in the quarantine. Those, who are accommodated in dormitories are obliged to comply with security rules resulting from the epidemic status associated with COVID-19.
