The "CO.Living" project by students of the Faculty of Architecture, Anna Toborek and Joanna Machera, won the prestigious international competition Multi Comfort Student Contest. In the finals our students defeated as many as 60 teams from 35 countries around the world, and as a reward they will go on an internship to a well-known architectural studio in Milan.
In this year's edition 2,200 students registered for the competition! Polish students have been participating in the competition since 2012. It is the first time, Poland won the first place.
- Receiving such a prestigious award is a great success for us and a very important factor for further career development. The internship will allow us to gain valuable experience. The level of projects presented this year was very high, and the competition was very difficult - the winners do not hide their joy.
The second place went to the team from Côte d'Ivoire, the third one to the team from Belarus.
The Multi Comfort Student Contest takes place in two stages. During the first stage the selection of the best teams from different countries in the world took place. Then, then they came to Milan to present their projects. The subject of this year's edition of the competition was to invigorate and restore the integration of the metro station Crescenzago with the city of Milan in accordance with the vision # milano2030. The objective of the task was to create new housing and renovation strategies for the three existing multi-family buildings.
- The main idea of our project was to create a coliving space adapted to the needs of different resident groups (young people, students, families with children, married couples, elderly or disabled people). The building space was organized in such a way that each of the residents gained also access to a variety of common spaces such as underground parking, services in the ground floor, office space on the first floor and residential spaces on floors 2-4. In order to minimize air pollution, the project introduced a modern technology in the form of Smog Free Towers system - the so-called "green lungs" in the form of innovative air- purifying towers. Additionally, on the roof of the building, there is a huge space in the form of a green courtyard, which blends well with the architecture.
In the existing buildings, we have introduced a structure with new balconies, greenery and shading system - say Anna Toborek and Joanna Machera.
The supervisor of the project is Andrzej Duda MA Eng. Arch.
Multi Comfort Student Contest organized by Saint-Gobain is addressed to architecture students. The competition was held for the first time in 2004 in Serbia, and a year later it expanded its range on an international scale.
