Professor Anna Pazdur was bestowed with the title of honorary professor of the Silesian University of Technology

Outstanding specialist in the field of geochronometry, including radiocarbon dating, Professor Anna Pazdur, from the Institute of Physics- Center for Science and Education, was bestowed with the title of honorary professor of the Silesian University of Technology handed in by the rector Professor Arkadiusz Mężyk. The ceremony took place during the inauguration of the academic year at the Institute of Physics.
 
Professor Anna Pazdur was bestowed with the title of honorary professor "in recognition of the global significance of scientific achievements, as a model academic teacher for didactic achievements and a well-deserved organizer whose work contributed to development of the Silesian University of Technology."
 
Professor Anna Pazdur is a graduate of the Jagiellonian University, in 1978 she defended her doctoral dissertation in physics, in 1990 she obtained her habilitation, and in 2001 – she was granted the title of Earth Science Professor.
 
In 1995-2012 she was the head of the Radioisotope Division and the head of the Radiocarbon Laboratory in Gliwice. She dealt with radiocarbon dating, absolute time scales in earth sciences and archeology, radiocarbon and stable isotopes in the environment. For over 40 years, she was a lecturer of the basics of nuclear physics, nuclear radiation detection, general physics and isotope geochemistry, local environment problems.
 
Professor Anna Pazdur is also an organizer of international "Methods of Absolute Chronology" conferences, as well as the editor-in-chief of the "Geochronometria" journal. She was also a supervisor of 9 doctoral theses.
